Thinking Blogger

Okay, so Shelly Rae Rich bestowed upon me a Thinking Blogger Award. (Thank you very much, Shell!) I’m a total newbie when it comes to these “tag” things, so if I royally screw this up, you’re allowed to harangue me. But only a little bit, because after a while, I will bite back. It appears the Thinking Blogger Award originated HERE. There are so many floating around, however, that it makes me dizzy, so I could be wrong. According to the bylaws, I must:

Acknowledge the origin of the meme/award
If you are tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think
Optional: Display the “Thinking Blogger Award” with a link to the post that you wrote using either the gold or silver versions of the award.)

So here we go. In no particular order, these are my choices for Thinking Bloggers.

Canadian Writer’s Collective
Composed of Melissa Bell, Anne Chudobiak, Tricia Dower, Steven Gajadhar, Tamara J. Lee, Antonios Maltezos, and Andrew Tibbetts, The Canadian Writer’s Collective always has something interesting to say. Their threads are not just about Canada, or writing, either, but life in the world. And they are often very funny. Like Antonios Maltezos’ piece “Where has all the dog shit gone? (May 24, 2007)

Emerging Writer’s Network
It’d be a sin not to mention Dan Wickett and the amazing work he does on this site. This man must read more than anybody in the world. His Work of the Day picks, his literary magazine and small press reviews, his E-panels, etc. etc. make him one of the best resources out there.

Perpetual Folly
Cliff Garstang runs this blog. He constantly updates it, with literary journal and book reviews, musing on the literary life, and tidbits from beyond. I particularly like his posts on the fiction published in The New Yorker, however. I often blog The New Yorker, as well, and Mr. Garstang usually has something different (and probably more interesting) to say.

Baltimore Interview
I’d like to point out this blog because the work of the artists (not writers, mind you, but painters, sculptors, builders, and so on) profiled are frequently (okay, fine, ALWAYS) beyond my comprehension. But I read anyway. To be fascinated, perplexed, and inspired.

Mighty Foods
What most of you probably don’t know is that in addition to this blog, I run a food blog called flavor a deux, so I have to represent that side of the equation. There are a plethora of food bloggers out there, but Heidi Swanson’s Mighty Foods, in my opinion, ranks supreme for several reasons. Not only is it distinctly different from most food sites out there, it’s packed with important information. Here’s what she has to say about it:

The Mighty Foods site is about natural foods, organic ingredients, fair-trade products, veg-friendly recipes, sustainable farming, whole grains, organic wines, ingredient spotlights, news, profiles, reviews, gift ideas, new product information, culinary travel ideas, studies and trends - information and inspiration, all wrapped up in one food-loving bundle. Updated often.

And they you have it. My five choices for the Thinking Blogger Award. Enjoy.

You’re most welcome. Thank YOU, and the rest of the CWC, for such great posts.

  3. Dan Wickett Says:
Ah, once again, the confusion between high volume and high quality, but I’ll gladly accept such a nice distinction, especially from one of my favorite more recent discoveries! If it wouldn’t look so bad, the nomination would be coming right back at you, Kelly!

Gee, thanks, Dan! Keep up the superb work!
